I'm not somebody who consideres myself "crafty" in any shape or form. I look on in wonder at women who make and bake and craft their way through life, but after applying for one particular fair and being turned down because my items were not handmade I thought "right, I'll show them ! " and decided to have a go at making some candle cups. How hard could it be ? It wasn't ! in fact, it was possibly the simplest thing I have ever done.
I'm really pleased with the results of my first attempt. Many more to follow.

They look gorgeous - well done. Have you thought about writing a book? 'How not to be beaten' by Karen Jones!
ReplyDeleteHa! Now there's an idea : ) xx
ReplyDeleteYAY! go Crafty Karen! ;D
ReplyDeleteI knew you had it in you, I don't know, all this baking, and crafting and childrens party organising....do i need to come over and check your okay ;D ?
Tea cup candles look gorg! you should try cake stand next, i just got all the bits to make one from ebay (£2) and all u need then is some vintage plates and a tile drill bit ;) I bet Mr Handy would drill a few holes for you ;)
Then thats two products for your fair portfolio ;) xxxxxx
You crafty bugger! The teacups look great and would make a wonderful present. Also a fantastic solution to a setless single cup and saucer.
ReplyDeleteOh Karen, they are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI will not repeat that conversation we had about ahem making candles from pretty cups.
Needs must when the devil drives and all that!
Ruth.
Lovely! I went a bit mad with these last year and I think I have exhausted people to give them to now!
ReplyDeleteHelen, thank you lovely, cake stands & drilling holes in vintage plates are a step too far for me I'm afraid lovely. Look forward to seeng what you do though : ) xxxx
ReplyDeletemidlife and Ruth Just so you know I haven't gone back TOOOOOO much on what I said previously these are made from minature cups and saucers which were for decorative purposes in the first place :) Actually the white ones are from a French child's tea set ! Arggh I know, I did agonise before committing to candles, but at least they can eventually be washed out with no harm done xxx
ReplyDeleteLakota, well you must sell them then lovely, I hear they still make good money ! Or so I am hoping for my forthcoming Vintage events xx
ReplyDeleteThey look beautiful...well done you!! Hopefully you'll make lots of money so you can go back to the people who wouldn't let you have a stand and say Booooooooooooooooo!!!
ReplyDeleteEmma thank you lovely, that is my intention : ) xxx Hows the man ???

ReplyDeleteSo pretty - but I think I'd be far too lazy, and will continue to keep the shops of Totnes in business with my obsessive scented candle habit!!
