Here is what the car looked like packed up to GO HOME !
As for that great lump of a table perched on the edge of the boot, in my excitement to unload my treasure from the car, I opened the boot and the thing fell out onto my leg. Spent the rest of the day with ice pack and elevation unable to move it. Nasty cut, swelling and bruise but nothing more. One bonus, it meant I rested and hubby also made steak and chips for lunch ! Result !
There also seemed to be a bit of a theme going on this week. I 'll call it French Market Chic. A lot of the items I found were French. Not that I am complaining. French vintage is a big trend at the moment.
Really pretty French Limoges Porcelain Child's tea set in a hamper
Set of FOUR immaculate French Betjeman and Barton tea caddies ! You will see why I am so thrilled if you take a look at their website where you will see each tea caddy (without tea) sells for over 12 Euros ! Woop.
Tired but gorgeous toy doll high chair. I am going to give this a lick of paint and turn it into the perfect shabby chic little girls play thing.
Wonderful 1950's Sirram picnic hamper complete with original contents. Needs a bit of work and some serious cleaning but a fab find with China cups and plates not plastic . *big smile*
HUGE gilt and cream mirror. Knocked the seller down to £12 from £15 for this beauty. Don't be afraid to haggle especially if its a big item, they won't want to take it home again !
Now for the random piece. Whilst selling on Saturday in Budleigh I remembered one of the lovely sellers from the last Crikey Its Vintage Event I attended had a shop there. I thought I would pop along and take a peak. What Katy Did is the most wonderful treasure trove of Vintage items you will find anywhere on the planet. I got talking to the lovely Katy and it came to light she rents out cabinets in her shop. Result : I am now, along with my lovely friend Liz the proud renter of space in Katy's shop. So when I saw the Brush Hall set above I thought it would be the perfect piece to fit right in with the style of Katy's Shop. Wish me luck and watch this space for regular updates on how it goes.
Two teeny, tiny ceramic puppy dogs. I saw them on the same table as another old child's tea set I purchased and though they looked so sad, I just couldn't leave them behind.
That's it for today. I have lots and lots more treasure including four chairs but will save those for another day.

What a lovely mirror and a good bargain.
ReplyDeleteThose tea caddies are wonderful, adding some colour to the shelves.
Thank you Samantha. I'm keeping the mirror and selling the tea caddies : ) xx
ReplyDeleteThat picnic set is really gorgeous - they are not usually in such good condition
ReplyDeleteLove the mini tea set too
Good luck with your What Katy Did items.
Ruthy xx
It is a lovely picnic set, just needs a really good clean. Thank you for the best wishes with the shop. xx
DeleteGreat finds, well done! Is it usually worth going? I'm in Exeter & intrigued! xo
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness YES ! But to get the best bargains you need to be up and at em by 6.30 am : ) xx
DeleteLove it all Karen, that highchair will be gorgeous when you've worked your magic on it I'm sure. So sorry to hear about your thrift related injury, hope it heals soon honey. x
ReplyDeleteBloody hurts I can tell you, but made of strong stuff so fine now. Would not have been impressed if I had broken my leg on the run up to my birthday party. Want to dance : ) xxx
DeleteOh- amazing! I love the tea caddies, I really do.
ReplyDeleteI am tempted to come to Exeter just for this booty. (Although 6:30? *pales*)
Do you find selling at a carboot as lucrative as selling at swankier fairs? I always look at people selling at a booty and think they are missing a trick?
x
ahh well I might have just the solution for you on the bootsale front sooooooon. Watch this space.
DeleteI don't sell my vintage wares at car boot sales (although I might try it soon) I just sell all our outgrown clothes and household bits and bobs.
The problem is, people don't want to pay vintage fair prices so it can be difficult, although I know a few regulars at mine who do ok. I'll let you know xx
I'm such a lover of tea caddies so those are right up my street - brilliant find, Karen! :-)
ReplyDeleteJem xXx
Thanks Jem, really wasn't feeling it this week and missed out on a few beauties but ended up with quite a haul by hometime : )
DeleteFor someone not in the mood you did really well there. Not quantity maybe but definitely quality stuff, well done.
ReplyDeleteI used to sell all my surplus stock from the shop, if it hadn't sold in the shop after a few months I would car boot it at just above cost price and then restock my shelves.
Sue xx
Thanks Sue, yes did find some great treasure in the end but really wasn't in the mood. Tired out from previous days work.
DeleteI was selling off surplus stock yesterday from when I had girls clothes but ended up selling most of it at a loss just to get rid of it : (
Blimey what an eventful weekend.
ReplyDeleteHope your leg is ok now.
You got some gorgeous items nevertheless. x
Am shattered Liz, but only way to make a living. Leg is fine, sore and bruised but no real damage thank god ! Want to shake myself about a bit at my birthday party on Saturday : ) xxx
DeleteYou always find the best things - wish I could be an early bird! The mirror is an absolute stunner and surely worth far more, and I'm very very taken with that bird brush - so unusual.
ReplyDeletePoor you and the leg - dangerous business this thrifting lark!
Thank you lovely. I adore what you did this week with the zips !!! Inspired xx
DeleteOh poor you Karen - hope your leg isn't too badly bruised today.
ReplyDeleteExciting news about the cabinet rental!
Those puppies look so sad, I'm pleased you brought them home... xx
Thank you sweetie, I am so excited about the cabinet, just trying to decide what to include : ) xx
DeleteKaren, I am going to have to get up early and visit this boot sale, you get such great finds especially love the picnic basket. Hope your leg is better soon.
ReplyDeleteJillx
You must it gets bigger and bigger throughout the Summer. If you are not quite up to such an early start. Try the one at Lympstone it starts at 8.30 on a Thursday (a bit more civilized) xx
DeleteThat mirror is divine!
ReplyDeleteThank you lovely. Its a keeper (for now) xx
DeleteHope you are recouping now. Love, love, love the mirror, you must keep it, it's very you! :) (gorgeous)

First of all I want to say superb blog! I had a quick question that I'd like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your mind before writing. I have had trouble clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out there. I do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or hints? Cheers!
